This week saw the publication of the ranked list of the Fast 50 Award winners, presented by the Triangle Business Journal to Triangle area businesses showing rapid, sustained growth over the past three years. Research Square was number 35 on the list, representing a ten-spot increase over last year’s #45 ranking. Big thanks to our amazing employees and our hard-working customers, who are constantly striving to improve our understanding of the world around us. We’re proud to support the communication of the important research happening every day around the world. We’re also proud to be a part of North Carolina’s Research Triangle area, home to thriving education, technology, and scholarly publishing communities. As part of the award process, our CEO, Shashi Mudunuri, provided some thoughts on Research Square’s growth. Here are a few of these comments:
What is fueling your company’s growth? The number of researchers around the world continues to grow, as does the number of published research articles. As more and more research is conducted and shared, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that critical results are communicated clearly and effectively, both among academics and the public.
What is your biggest success in the past 12 months? This year saw the development of our Video Summaries solution, designed to help researchers reach a broad, global audience with their results in an engaging, multimedia format. While Video Summaries have only been launched recently, they have received great interest from researchers, scholarly publishers, and science communicators as tools that help explain research in a more concise and accessible way.
What is the best aspect of owning a business in the Triangle? The Triangle features an amazing combination of thriving businesses and higher education. Many of our team members come from an academic background, and residing in an area near a number of prominent academic institutions helps with recruiting and retaining top talent. The Triangle is also a great area for young professionals and for raising a family, maximizing the impact of our flexible, family-friendly work environment. The proximity of the major universities, and the resurgence of the downtown areas in Durham and Raleigh provide a diversity of cultural and social amenities, adding to the area’s attractiveness.
We’re very grateful to have received the Fast 50 Award, and we hope the following year will see us make a sustained impact on research around the world.
